Hello, dear friends welcome to our site in the name of Jesus Christ. Today we will look at alcohol and wine and what the Bible says about their consumption.
Many people around the world search on this topic of alcohol and wine and many give many information but today we will look at the Bible and give some essential teachings.
If you have any opinion about today’s post then definitely comment and if you like it then definitely share too.
First, we see the difference between wine and alcohol. Wine is a type of grape juice that is fermented and has an alcohol content of 9% to 16%. However, today various companies mix more to make people intoxicated.
According to the Bible, whether we should drink it or not depends on various factors.
If we look at 1 Timothy 5:23 in the Bible, Paul tells Timothy to drink a little wine. His reason was his stomach problem. But we have to understand that in those days there were not as many medicines as today. There were not so many doctors as well. Besides, the wine they used was not harmful. Now it has become harmful. Drinking too much can cause cancer, liver damage, etc. In those days people used this wine as medicine (Luke 10:34).
We see that Jesus turned the water into wine that was good and no one was harmed by drinking it, and no one got drunk (John 2:10).
Before going to the cross, Jesus told his disciples with this wine, drink it in remembrance of me. Did Jesus tell us to drink alcohol or wine?
In fact, this wine is of two types, a fresh one that is fermented over a period of time. Another is fermented for a long time which becomes intoxicating and harmful.
Where God is blessing the wine and telling us to eat, is the fresh grape juice that does not contain any alcohol or harmful substances.
Ecclesiastes 9:7 “Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works”.
Again in the Bible God curses a person who gets up in the morning and drinks wine that causes him to be intoxicated all day long. It is the type of wine that has been fermented for a long time and is harmful to the body.
Isaiah 5:11 “Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them.”
Now the question is whether we should drink wine and alcohol or not. My personal opinion is not alcohol, but wine can be drunk if you make it fresh at home. Don’t let it rot for long and don’t buy it from the store. Because the wine available in the store contains alcohol which will make you intoxicated and drunk. That is nothing but a curse before God.
Because the Bible says that whatever you eat, drink, or do, do it in the name of Jesus. Because God is glorified by it. But being druken how can we glorify God?
Let us now look at more Bible verses that will help us make the right decision.
1 Corinthians 6:10
“Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God”
“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise”
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit”
“For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb”
“He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart”
“It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak”
“Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”
