If you have decided to divorce your spouse and remarry, then today’s topic is for you. In the Bible today we will see Is it a sin to divorce and remarry?

The Bible says that it is not a sin to divorce someone if there is a good reason to do so. And the next time he has to give time to God, that is, to be alone. If someone divorces and remarries his partner without a valid reason, he is sinning against God. And whoever marries her also sins.

Let’s look at the word of God given on this topic today.

Bible Verses About Divorce And Remarriage (1 Corinthians 7:39)

1 Corinthians 7:39(KJV)“The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord”

Matthew 5:32(KJV)“But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of lewdness, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery”

Bible Verses About Divorce And Remarriage(Luke 16:18)

Luke 16:18(KJV)“Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery”

Romans 7:2-3(KJV) “For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man”

1 Corinthians 7:8-9(KJV) “I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn”

Bible Verses About Divorce And Remarriage(Matthew 19:9)

Matthew 19:9(KJV)“And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for lewdness, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery”

Malachi 2:16(KJV) “For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously”

Conclusion:- The Lord has instituted the marriage system for his children and he doesn’t want them to be separated from each other. Through marriage, two persons get together and they become one flesh.

Paul has told that women who already got married to a man should never leave him; she should stay with her husband till her death. If she departs from her husband she should stay single and if she feels to be reconciled with her husband again then she can do it.

On the other hand, the husband should never diverse his wife. If a woman has a non-believing husband then she should stay with him and God will change her husband because it is God’s desire to bring both husband and wife in one faith by which they will receive the heavenly blessings that the Lord has planned for every couple(1 Corinthians 7:10-14).
