The Bible is the word of God which is given to correct and guide us in this world. God knows us very clearly and he also has given us some instructions by which we can get rid of the hindrance of this earth.
By nature we are timid and often we get afraid of little trials. But the Lord said that you must brave enough and courageous to endure that situation with patience.
A true follower of Jesus Christ will depend on God in every circumstance and he will allow God to interfere in his problems show that God can help him to get rid of that situation.
In every hard time, we can find that the Lord commanded his people to be calm and courageous so that they can overcome the problems easily. The following Bible verses will help us to know how the people of God were delivered from their difficult times with the help of God.
Joshua 1:9(KJV)“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest”
Explanation:- After the death of Moses, the Lord called Joshua to lead the Israelites into the promised land. Joshua had no knowledge of leading such a nation earlier.
He had quite timid and afraid of doing the task that was given to him. The Lord told him to be brave and courageous so that he can be able to lead God’s people.
Deuteronomy 31:6(KJV)“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”
Explanation:- When Moses was 120 years old he was unable to lead God’s chosen people into the promised land. So he called all the Israelites and inspired them that this should not fair to anyone, rather they should fear the Lord their God alone.
To inherit the promised land they need to be brave and courageous so that they can defeat their anyways and they will reign in the land.
Proverbs 28:1(KJV)“The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion”
Explanation:-We can see many wicked people are growing faster in their worldly possessions. at that time we can ask why are there prospering in life in spite of doing evil.
Though they prosper quickly one thing should be noticed that they will also be abolished very soon. But the righteous will stand firm in times of hardship and trials.
Joshua 10:25(KJV)“And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of a good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight”
Explanation:-After the death of Moses, Israel got their new leader and he was Joshua. Joshua also was timid in the beginning while God called him to lead his people.
Gradually he understood the mighty presence of God in him and he worked according to the intention of the Lord. He encouraged the children of Israel not to be afraid of anyone but to confront their enemies on the battlefield.
1 Chronicle 28:20(KJV)“And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord”
Explanation:-The great king David also experienced the wonderful and mighty presence of the Lord in his life. He also told his son Solomon to walk along with the Lord till the end of his life.
He must be courageous and brave because the Lord will be with him throughout his life and he will guide him and lead him in times of difficulties.
John 16:33(KJV)“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”
Explanation:-Jesus told to his disciples that in this world we will get persecution and we will go through many problems that will make us unhappy.
But if you follow him and if we walk in his ways only then we will get the peace from him which will console your hearts. Jesus also said that he overcome the world and if we follow him then we will also be able to overcome this world.
Romans 8:15(KJV)“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father”
Explanation:-Jesus came to deliver us from the power of sin which kept us in bondage. He has given us his Spirit by which we will be able to overcome this bondage and he also bought us by His precious blood from the power of sin.
No longer we belong to this world but we are the children of the Highest God. Jesus has adopted us and made the way for us to enter into heaven so that we can dwell with him permanently.
1 Chronicle 22:13(KJV)“Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed”
Explanation:-The Lord formed the nation Israel out of the seed of Abraham. He has promised Abraham that from his seed he will make a great nation that will fill the earth like the stars in the sky.
The Lord has promised the Israelites that he will always be with them and he will be their God. To fulfill his promises what he made with Abraham the Lord took Israel on the battlefield to defeat other nations so that they can dwell in the land of Canaan.
the Lord knows the hearts of the people that is why he reminded them not to think of uncertain things that can make them weak. Instead of thinking negative thoughts, they must be brave and courageous so that they can walk along with the Lord.
Psalm 16:8(KJV)“I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved”
Explanation:-King David placed God always at the first position in his life. He understood that without the presence and will of God we will not be successful in our lives.
Because we win such situations by our own strength. Overcome such situations we must need the mighty hand of God.
From the life of David, we can learn that we should also place God first and if we do so then we will also be successful in every step of our life.
Hebrews 13:5-6(KJV)“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me”
Explanation:-We must live a simple life with respecting each other where covetousness should not take place among us. Christians are warned that they must be satisfied with what they have.
because God wants us to be satisfied with what he has given to us and he knows what we also need.
He knows all our weaknesses and he knows what we need and he will supply everything at the right time. The Lord is our helper and he will provide us everything at the right time.
Luke 12:4(KJV)“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do”
Explanation:-Jesus encourages his followers that they should not be afraid when people kill the outer body. Because they can kill the body but they will not be able to destroy the soul.
The world can only do the harm is by killing our physical body but beyond that, they have nothing to do with us and we should not care for it.
But we need to fear the Lord because he will judge our soul according to our works so we must think about our solo which is life itself.
2 Chronicles 32:7(KJV)“Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him”
Explanation:-The king of Assyria might be strong in the sight of normal people. But when the mighty hand of the Lord will be on the side of the Israelites at that time the scenery will be different because the Lord himself will fight against the king of Assyria.
In several places, the word of God commanded his people to be brave and courageous so that they can stand against their enemy firmly.
From these words, we can get to know that we should not fear anything because what we see it’s different from God’s perspective.
2 Corinthians 5:8(KJV)“We are confident, I say, and willing rather be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”
Explanation:-we have a high hope that after our death we will meet our Lord Jesus Christ and we will dwell in heaven forever. This hope is leading us to have a righteous life on this earth and it will also guide us to give up all types of bad habits which we have practiced before receiving Jesus as our savior.
Paul said that the believers should not be desired to live in this physical body but we just have to look forward to living with Christ because here on this earth our days are not forever but our life will be in heaven for eternity.
2 Samuel 10:12(KJV)“Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth him good”
Explanation:- In times of hardships, we should not use our knowledge to get through that situation but we need to depend on the Lord for his direction.
We have to be brave and courageous so that we can endure hard times. The word of God says that God is in control of everything so it would be best from our side to rely on his directions.
